My Nokia 770 Internet Tablet
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Tired of toting my laptop around, I was determined to find an alternate solution to my needs, which were simple; check email and check in on Basecamp, my project management site, when I’m out and about. I was considering some kind of cell phone with web access but then I saw a post on the IMAGINIF weblog talking about the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. When I saw Basecamp on the screen, I immediately wanted one and then ordered one an hour later.

I live in the U.S. and had to wait much longer than the expected due date. It finally arrived two days ago and I’ve been playing with it since. I took it for a walk in San Francisco yesterday and found wi-fi hot spots are in abundance. Many are password protected, many are not.
The size is just right. Nice and small. The display is absolutely gorgeous. It’s not a speed demon but it’s fast enough. The OS is kinda neat but also not that intuitive, for me anyway. Also, I wish I had more memory or something cause I can only load a few apps at one time.
The biggest bummer for me is that the RSS news reader doesn’t seem to understand how to deal with password protected RSS feeds like my Basecamp feed. This sucks! I can just visit my Basecamp site from the web browser but getting the feed delivered to me would be best.
Also, it can’t play .mov files, or at least I can’t figure out how to get it to do that with the default settings.
All in all, I think this device is the bees knees. I’m going to dig around in the Nokia 770 forums and start learning more about this little wonder and will tell you about it here on my weblog if you don’t mind.

[...] Secondly, he got one of the Nokia 770 Tablets, and has mixed reviews of it. This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time now. I send him an email about a few features of it, as that I would love to bring it along with me everywhere instead of my 14″ iBook. Check out his mini-review. [...]
